Nicola Bettini first joined The Rustic House team as a Production Assistant, helping fill candles and package them correctly. Soon, Nicola began using her passion for art to help this small company grow! Not only does she help in production, but now she designs packaging and develops new ideas for TRH. Here is her story...
How did you begin working for TRH?
I started at TRH about a year ago, pretty much by chance. I was a server at the time and my boyfriend was working at TRH. On my off day he asked me if I would come in and help them out in production for a couple hours. I ended up loving it, and made it my full-time job!
Describe a typical day for you.
I work in production so I clean, label, and package all the candles. I've also started working in product design where I help make new labels and think of ideas for products. So basically I'm the sticker girl -- I make candles and put stickers on things all day.
What is your favorite TRH scent and why?
My favorite scent is Farmers Market. It smells just like a tomato plant.
What are some challenges you've faced while working?
Working in production is a lot of doing the same task hundreds of times over and over, but I kind of enjoy that. Once I find my rhythm I can just like zone out and churn out a bunch of product. I wouldn't consider my job a challenging one, but maintaining consistency is probably the most important part.
How have you grown and what have you learned about yourself?
I've learned that I'm really good at putting stickers on things!
What are your hobbies when not working?
I like spending time with my dogs and working at my other job as a tattoo apprentice.
Nicola helped design the packaging for our new Spring Collection Gift Set!
What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
My dream is to be a tattoo artist, but I would also like to continue doing design work for TRH in the future. I like the people behind the company, and their aesthetic is one that I am inspired by, so hopefully I'll be sticking around for a while!
